Should Detroit Tigers let Tarik Skubal pitch deeper into games?
The Days of Roar podcast breaks down the caution around Tarik Skubal’s pitch count, plus thoughts from Justin Verlander on pitching deep into games.
Tickets for the upcoming Detroit Tigers series against the Chicago Cubs seem to continue selling fast.
Although the Tigers have not yet confirmed whether any of the three games from Friday, June 6-Sunday, June 8 have sold out, the team told the Free Press it is anticipating standing room-only tickets to be sold for the entire weekend.
While seats are still available through the official Tigers website for Friday’s and Sunday’s games, standing room-only tickets are the only ones available through the Tigers for Saturday’s game. Seated tickets for Saturday’s game are still available through third-party websites.
The Tigers said they would announce whether the games had sold out when reporting the official attendance numbers, which usually happens during the game itself.
Comerica Park has featured two games this season with an attendance total of greater than 40,000 fans: the home opener (44,735) against the Chicago White Sox on April 4 and a May 10 loss against the Texas Rangers (40,844) in which the Tigers gave away a “mystery Tarik Skubal bobblehead.” Both games were announced as sellouts.
The excitement surrounding the Tigers comes during one of the best starts in franchise history. At 41-23, the Tigers have the best record in MLB and entered Friday as the only team in baseball with at least 40 wins.

The weekend’s high ticket sales may also be influenced by the Tigers’ opponent. The Chicago Cubs entered Friday in first place in the National League Central and have the best record in the NL (39-23). Cubs fans also have the reputation of traveling in high numbers, and the proximity between Chicago and Detroit makes this a shorter road trip than most for Cubs supporters.
